B.Sc Micro-Biology

Objective : 

1. Gives more emphasis on practical knowledge related to the curriculum.
2. Provides hands on training in medical microbiology including cultivation techniques, identification, characterization and diagnosis.
3. Interdisciplinary approach through which the candidate becomes accommodative as per the industrial need.
4. Updates on the techniques in different disciplines as molecular biology, microbial biotechnology, food and agricultural microbiology, fermentation technology and environmental microbiology.
5. Enhances the student’s attitude and skills through participation in different seminars, symposia and workshops.
6. Helps the students to get information on the latest trends in biological field from the experts by organizing guest lectures.
7. Strengthens the students’ skills and talent to become a successful entrepreneur, which will pave way for employment opportunities and sustainability in all spheres of life.

Eligibility :

A candidate who has passed Higher Secondary Examination in any one of the biological sciences (Academic / Vocational stream) under Higher Secondary Board of Examination, Tamilnadu or as per norms set by the Government of Tamilnadu or an Examination accepted as equivalent thereto by the syndicate of Periyar university.

Duration :

The course for the degree of Bachelor of Science - Microbiology consists of three academic years divided into six semesters.
